Lewis Hamilton stormed to yet another pole position, this time at the Spa Francorchamps circuit. However, the real story revolved around Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc, and Scuderia Ferrari.

The team came dangerously close to losing a car in Q1 itself when Charles Leclerc found himself in 15th. He was saved by the bell when Kevin Magnussen ran wide and compromised his lap time.

The Maranello outfit looked like a ghost of last year’s car that actually managed to snatch pole and win the race. It is safe to say that neither car will be repeating that feat any time soon.

Speaking to the media after qualifying, Leclerc said that it was hard to explain why they lost so much performance in a year. The Monegasque driver has been lucky to sneak in an odd podium or two, but nothing more than that.

What did Charles Leclerc say?

“It’s a big step back from the others, so we need to try and find the main issue to try and address it,” the Ferrari driver said. “It’s not a good day but it’s like this at the moment. We need to keep working hard.”

He insisted that it is vital for the team to stay positive and keep their heads up. Leclerc knows that they have been going through a rough patch together, but is confident that they can weather the storm.

“Everybody in the team needs to keep their heads up, even though it’s very difficult on a day like this.

The Monegasque driver concluded, “I can also understand the fans at home that are very disappointed. It’s understandable, but as drivers, we’ll try to make the best race possible tomorrow, even though we can’t expect any miracles.”

Now, he and teammate Sebastian Vettel have it all to do from 13th and 14th on the grid. With the weather set to play its part on Sunday, can both drivers take capital advantage?
