If someone has been an ardent Formula 1 fan, they can be well-versed with even the most technical bits of the sport. But if someone has just started watching the sport, a lot of things can be tricky to understand. But there’s this one thing that baffles almost everyone at least once in their lifetime and that includes one of the greats in the game, Lewis Hamilton. Leaving aside the fans, the man with 103 wins under his belt is still puzzled by this unusual F1 phenomenon. As the Mercedes star, who has spent 16 years in this sport, still tries to find an answer, he talked about it in a recent podcast.
Talking to Jay Shetty, Hamilton shared, “I get this question that my friend asked me the other day, where does the weight go?’ Because afterward [after a race], I weigh less.” The Silver Arrows ace then continues, “So I gotta figure out where actually the weight goes because obviously it isn’t sweat but that’s like messed my mind though.”

However, there’s a justification that says why drivers lose weight after every race. According to reports, a Formula 1 driver may lose up to 2-3 kilograms or 4-6 pounds of weight after a race. This is due to the extreme heat generated in the cockpit.
This is why drivers drink a lot of water before the race to stay hydrated. Even if they are not thirsty or don’t want to take in water, they have to do so as they are expected to sweat out. The fluid intake prevents them from dehydration.
Lewis Hamilton believes in himself to break the 300th race start curse
After spending 16 long years in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton reached 300 race appearances in 2022. The driver who debuted back in 2007, now has 310 race starts under his name. With this, he became the sixth driver in the sport to achieve this feat.

After Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Rubens Barrichello, and Jenson Button, Hamilton is the latest driver to introduce himself to the 300 GP feat. However, the Briton believes there’s something more he can achieve that everybody else failed to do so. The Silver Arrows ace feels he can win races even after he reached his 300 GP appearances.
Talking about this, the seven-time world champion told formule1.nl, “If I can say anything from last year, it is that as a team we have only become more resilient and more determined. We wanted to hit back after 2021. That was where our drive came from. But at one point I thought: ‘God, I really can’t fight for the title with this car’.”
“But there has never been a driver like me either.”
