Max Verstappen, winning the final race of the season with ease, summed up his season pretty well. The Dutchman successfully defended his title with 4 races to spare. Moreover, he helped his team take the constructors’ championship with 3 races left. The feat has seen him take many compliments, but the latest from Martin Brundle will please him the most.

Max Verstappen did not start the season as strongly. The Flying Dutchman was 46 points behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at one point in the season. The Monegasque started the season on a high with 2 wins from the first 3 races. However, the way Verstappen and Red Bull came out on top together after that, is worthy of the applause they get.

Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle praises Max Verstappen with a special comparison

Sky Sports and Red Bull did not really see eye to eye after Ted Kravitz’s comments following the race at COTA. Kravitz was reporting from the pit lane when he used the word “robbed” twice for Lewis Hamilton failing to win his 8th championship title in Abu Dhabi in 2021.

The comments did not go down well with Max Verstappen as he decided to boycott the broadcaster. Team Red Bull followed suit and the boycott lasted until the Mexican GP.

However, former F1 driver and current Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle had some pretty big words for the 2-time world champion. Brundle, in the commentary box, witnessed the ease with which Verstappen was driving. He could not help but compare him to F1 great Michael Schumacher.

As the race progressed to lap 48, Brundle said, “This is sort of a Michael Schumacher-esque drive here from Max Verstappen. It almost looks however slow he’s driving, he’s pulling away. It just looks so casual.”

It is interesting to note that despite countless records to Lewis Hamilton’s name, it was Verstappen who got compared to the GOAT, Michael Schumacher.

Fans had a mixed reaction to the moment, as some thought Martin was biased towards Red Bull. Others believed it was a case of talent recognizing talent.

How fans reacted to Martin Brundle lauding Max Verstappen

Have a look at the mixed reactions that Brundle’s comments evoked. One fan thought the comparison was Schumacher was uncalled for.

Another fan thought the parallel in the two drivers’ racing styles was pretty identical.

Someone pointed out how the narrative “Sky Sports is British biased” is untrue and suggested the bias was actually in favor of Red Bull.
