Now FIA has revealed Lewis Hamilton’s double overtake in Silverstone as the Action of the Year. Needless to say, netizens are once again divided on the subject.

The British GP was quite an eventful race this year. We saw extreme action right from the start as Zhou Guanyu’s horrific crash saw him tumble into the barriers. As the race restarted after the red flags, we saw some more mesmerizing overtakes and battles all over the field. However, the moment that made it to the Action of the Year was Lewis Hamilton’s double overtake on Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton’s Silverstone stunt gets Action of the Year

As the British GP progressed towards Lap 45, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez were fighting it out for P2. Little did the two know how close Lewis Hamilton was behind them, looking to pounce on the first opportunity to make a move. The final corner was when the opportunity presented itself and Hamilton took it with both hands.

As Leclerc went off the track going wheel-to-wheel with Perez, it opened up space for Lewis to make a lunge. While Leclerc and Perez, later in Lap 46, took the lead back from Hamilton, the moment was iconic nonetheless.
