Emma Raducanu Rooting For Lewis Hamilton to Win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award 2021

Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton is an inspiration to many across the world. One of them is tennis player, Emma Raducanu. The 19-year-old is a big fan of the 7-time world champion and hopes to see him win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Additionally, Raducanu received some advice from the British driver after she won her Grand Slam. Seeing that Hamilton’s her role model, she hopes that the Knight can win the prestigious award.

In the world of sports, athletes often look at each other as role models, as it helps them to become better. Raducanu is no different as she looks up to the Mercedes driver.

As quoted by Reuters, she revealed the advice Hamilton gave her, (Lewis) said, “Be patient, you’ve just got to ride the wave. It’s all good. Don’t worry,” Raducancu said, “Good reassurance. He has been such a good role model for me in terms of helping me out through the next stages.”

Talking about wishing Hamilton win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, she said, “No, definitely not. I am rooting for Lewis in the race. I just don’t even think about it. For me, it’s something that’s so far out of the realms of possibility.”

Can Lewis win the race for the title?

This season, Hamilton has been fighting to the limit against his arch-rival, Max Verstappen for a shot at the championship. Both of them had their chances of leading the driver’s standings, but now with just two races remaining before the end of the season; Hamilton hopes he is the one who can come out on top.

The gap between the two title contenders is just eight points, with F1 heading to Jeddah this week for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Hamilton would aim to make it three wins in a row, after taking the chequered flag in Brazil and Qatar.
