Recently, former F1 team boss Colin Kolles spoke to the SPORT1 TV channel about Sebastian Vettel. The German driver has been in a bit of a rut this season and has consistently struggled to keep up with his teammate, Charles Leclerc.

Kolles has a theory explaining Vettel’s struggles, and he believes that it boils down to management.

The 52-year-old thinks that Vettel will not be able to deal with the behind-the-scenes politics at Ferrari on his own. However, he can achieve this if he has a designated manager by his side. Kolles believes that a manager would have been able to help him through his troubled times in the past two years.

“One day he decided that he didn’t need a manager, that he would do it himself, with lawyers. That is his right, he has to decide,” says Kolles.

“You have to understand that Formula 1 is very political. Very, very political. Motorsport as a whole is very political, but Formula 1 is extremely political.”

Does Sebastian Vettel need a manager?

Truthfully, a manager’s presence and influence would have helped Vettel with his situation, chiefly dealing with Charles Leclerc, who has his own manager in the form of Nicolas Todt.

In the meantime, Vettel has to sort out his wayward form and deliver consistent results.

Vettel’s relationship with Ferrari has been on the decline and his frustrations are boiling over. In the past couple of races, the 4-time World Champion has openly and publicly questioned the team’s strategy.

After the Spanish Grand Prix, he bitterly admitted that his opinion did not matter anymore.
