It seems Ferrari got hacked and things have gone haywire for the Italian manufacturers. This happened on Monday, and the Italian car makers are trying to wrap their heads around it.

Ferrari has cleared the air by revealing that they couldn’t find any evidence of a breach in their system or ransomware. The business and operations were uninterrupted. With the lack of evidence, they are lost as to how the documents made it online.

The documents, about 7 GB, including internal documents, datasheets and repair handbooks, were leaked on the web by a group named ‘RansomEXX’

This, however, isn’t the first time Ferrari got hacked for their documentation. As per cybernews.com, in December 2021, Ferrari’s partner company ‘Speroni’, which is also an Italian manufacturer was hit by ‘Everest cyber gang’.

The leak seems to have taken place a week after the F1 team got a Romanian cybersecurity sponsor onboard called, ‘Bitdefender’.

The cyber leak chaos takes us back in time when Ferrari has their documents leaked, which eventually ended up at McLaren.

Going back in time to 2007, a die-hard Ferrari fan, brought some shocking news to the Maranello base. He informed Ferrari about a lady named Trudy Coughlan who had made a copy of 780 pages of documents in his shop. The documents had Ferrari logos on them.

This information was quite useful as they found out that Trudy was married to Mike Coughlan, who was the technical engineer at McLaren.
