If you are a Ferrari fan, experiencing a ‘normal’ race week rarely ever happens. The Italian constructors will be disappointed by their season this year despite building a strong car. Moreover, after starting the season on a high, Charles Leclerc and Ferrari’s title challenge quickly faded away in the midseason.

Mattia Binotto has been on the receiving end of much of the criticism. The Italian Team Principal has defended their strategic team time and again, despite multiple errors costing Charles Leclerc precious points and race wins.

Binotto also remembers the time when Ferrari was at their peak with Michael Schumacher driving them to glory for 5 years. He reminisces the time when Schumacher first won with a Ferrari car in Spain in 1996. It was that day Binotto understood what it truly meant to be a part of Ferrari.

When asked what is missing to get to the top? He said, “That winning mentality that was Schumacher at the time and that pushed you to do better after each victory.” (Translated from Google translate)

Binotto further added, “In Montmelò and Baku we had trouble when we were in the lead …”.

Schumacher won 5 titles on the spin with Ferrari. Charles Leclerc will be hoping to do something similar and bring the Prancing Horse back to its glory days. However, with a string of disappointing results after the summer break, Leclerc has fallen behind in the title race.
