His recent comments and commitment tell us Lewis Hamilton is far from retiring from Formula 1. However, the Brit knows he cannot continue forever. This is exactly why he is adding to this financial portfolio with multiple investments to secure his future. Now, the richest driver in F1 is planning to invest further with English soccer club Manchester United up for grabs.

The Glazer family, the current owners of the club, announced they will sell the club after pressure from the fans. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of INEOS, is among the interested parties. Ratcliffe’s relationship with the Mercedes F1 team could see Hamilton become a part of the United bid.

As reported by Mirror, Hamilton spoke about being part of the multi-billion dollar consortium, joining Ratcliffe. “Jim’s part boss but partner – I’d say we’re more partners because we’re in this together and I hope in future to do something with Jim and build with him,” said Hamilton.

He further added on the lack of black ownership in sports and his efforts to change that scenario. “I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership – there is a lack of it in sports – and black equity. Again, there is a real lack of that.”

Mirror reports the deal will be worth around $9.8 Billion, which will break the previous ownership record. Coincidentally, Hamilton was part of the current record deal with his takeover of the NFL team Denver Broncos. Hamilton tried his luck with Chelsea FC as well, but failed. However, if his Man Utd bid goes through, he could add $3.78B, the proxy Manchester United net worth, to his pockets.
