Nyck de Vries has finally been given a Formula 1 seat after years of perseverance and hard work. While competing in karting, de Vries raced with drivers like Albon, Carlos Sainz, George Russell, and Pierre Gasly. Although he went on to win the F2 championship, there was still no room for him in the premier series, and at the age of 27, it was starting to seem as though he might never have the chance. He has served as Mercedes’ reserve in order to keep his hand in. It also led to Williams calling him up when Albon became unwell in Italy, giving him more opportunities to test F1 vehicles and participate in some FP1 sessions. However, golden advice from compatriot Max Verstappen has helped him land a seat under the Red Bull umbrella.

The 28 Years’ successful acquisition of a permanent seat with AlphaTauri was made possible in large part by Red Bull. After winning the second championship, the star driver from Milton Keynes, Max Verstappen, sat down with de Vries at the dinner in Italy and proposed to the other Dutchman to call Dr. Helmut Marko to make it feasible for him to enter the race. They initially let Pierre Gasly go on his first excursion outside the Red Bull Umbrella. And after that, they assisted de Vries in signing a deal with AlphaTauri, and it appears that as a result of that call, the 28-year-old’s -fortunes have altered significantly.

Nyck de Vries was discovered discussing how the decision came to an episode of the AlphaTauri podcast. He said, ” Yeah, we had dinner together. On Monday night to kind of celebrate his win and celebrate my debut. So it was nice to kind of share that moment with him. And we obviously talked about the future and opportunities and I think the most important one, what I took away from that dinner was that I was still very much perceived publicly as a Mercedes driver which I was up until the end of 22 and I think it was important for me to clarify that I was part of Mercedes until the end of 22. So I think it was good for me to kind of basically make my situation clear, in order to not basically miss out on potential opportunities and that’s how it went. And then later that week I‌ ended up traveling to Austria.”

De Vries has now entered the realm of motorsport, and as a result, he will be under tremendous pressure to do well. However, the AlphaTauri team leader has all confidence in the Dutchman’s abilities.
