Scuderia Ferrari fans were treated to a bittersweet showing at Silverstone. In many ways, it was almost a repeat of the performance we witnessed in Austria.

While Charles Leclerc, who was impressive all throughout the weekend, finished in P3 (albeit thanks to some luck), his teammate Sebastian Vettel only barely held on to his P10 finish.

At this point, it almost seems like the two Ferrari men are driving two very different cars. Vettel’s SF1000 looked a world apart from the one Charles was racing in. After starting the race in P10, things only got worse for Vettel.

It looked as though he wouldn’t even get a point. But he managed to win one after punctures to Bottas and Sainz, saw them lose places in the final few laps.

As you’d expect, Vettel wasn’t too happy with his car or his performance. Even Team Principal Mattia Binotto knows that there is a lot to be done when it comes to improving Vettel’s car.

According to Motorsport.com, Binotto said, “If you look at our race today, at least on Sebastian’s side, it was a difficult race. On his car, we can do a lot more. He lost some track time on Friday, which was not helping. But he was never confident with the car this weekend.

“So there’s a lot of data to look at, to try and understand and to address it. So while eventually on Charles we will look at the data and try to optimize and let’s see what we can do there, there is much to do on Sebastian.”

After finishing P6 at the Hungaroring, one would have thought that Ferrari have finally improved Vettel’s car. However, that was clearly a false dawn. Surely, the patience amongst the Tifosi and the Ferrari higher-ups is be growing thin.

After all, it’s painful to see such a vast difference between two cars from the same team. Binotto would know that he is under scrutiny too and is probably pushing as hard to make Ferrari great again.
