Sebastian Vettel is looking to bounce back after a nightmare of a campaign with Ferrari in 2020. Having joined forces with Aston Martin for this year, not everyone seems convinced that the German can recreate his golden days.

However, McLaren CEO Zak Brown is an ardent supporter and believes in Vettel’s ability to rise out of the ashes. The American is wary of the challenge posed to his team by the Silverstone-based outfit who have a multiple world championship-winning driver in their car.

Sky F1 quoted Brown saying, “Given the car that they have – they’ve got the quickest car on the grid next to the Mercedes – I think they’ll be very tough [to beat].

“I think that whole group that we were fighting with last year, we’re going to pick up right where we left off in Abu Dhabi.

“Sebastian Vettel’s a four-time champion so, while he didn’t have a great year last year, I think he’ll be on his A-game and highly motivated so we’ve got to watch all of these guys.”

Aston Martin’s team boss Otmar Szafnauer may agree with Brown’s statement. After all, according to him, the ex-Ferrari driver is still highly motivated and self-confident. He hasn’t let the horrors of the last campaign get to him.

However, Aston Martin aren’t the only team that McLaren are worried about.

Brown expects the former team of Sebastian Vettel to bounce back

Ferrari had a dismal season last year. They only managed 3 podiums and ended the year in 6th place on the Constructors’ Championship table.

But the McLaren CEO expects the Prancing Stallion to regain their form this year and throw themselves in the thick of the mid-field battle.

He said, “Ferrari are Ferrari. they’re extremely strong and competitive, they’ve shown that through their whole period in Formula 1. There are going to be races where they are quicker than us, and hopefully more races where they are slower than us.”

The American would love to see his team match, if not better, their 3rd place finish from 2020. But the job seems incredibly tough in such a competitive mid-field.
