Speaking to Kronen Zeitung, Marko said:

‘He told me that he was afraid of being infected,”

‘You’d better get infected now because with 22 years you don’t really belong to the risk group anyway,”

Verstappen missed yesterday’s inaugural Virtual Grand Prix. The Dutchman cited inexperience as a reason for pulling out of the event. He will, however, take part in a race today with Lando Norris.

Another race postponed

The onslaught on COVID-19 on the calendar continues as F1 announced the postponement of another race on the 2020 calendar. After postponing 5 races, F1 made it 6 by adding Azerbaijan to the list. The race in Baku was initially scheduled for June 7th but now stands postponed until further notice.

The Baku race was supposed to officially kickstart the 2020 F1 season. The season’s hopes now rest with Canada but even that looks highly uncertain. With Canada not participating in the upcoming Olympics games, a packed race stand doesn’t seem likely.

This leaves France as the remaining option to host the opening race of the 2020 F1 calendar. A track that a large section of fans dislikes for its lack of action. However, at this stage, I would take any racing over no racing at all.

Postponing races is one thing but scheduling F1 races is no easy task. The FIA and F1 have a huge task ahead of them in trying to fit in a few of the cancelled races in a calendar that’s shrinking at an alarming rate.

As things stand, fans can only turn to Esports to get some form of racing action.
