Many Formula One fans know that Charles Leclerc is one of a few drivers who play video games and stream them on Twitch. On the other end of the scale, Sebastian Vettel keeps most of his activities fiercely private and is not on social media. However, every F1 driver is stuck in lockdown mode because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This will stay that way until the situation becomes more manageable.

Earlier this month, Charles Leclerc elected to create a Twitch account, though he already plays video games. He even spoke about trying to convince teammate Sebastian Vettel to join Twitch. He spoke about not knowing if Vettel is interested in playing Fortnite or if he even has a PlayStation.

In a recent stream, Leclerc said, “It would be amazing to see Sebastian streaming with me. Ehm I am not sure if he will stream with me. I know he is still trying to mount his simulator. As soon as he is done, I will send him a text and hopefully we can race together and I will stream it.”

When he spoke in a video conference, Vettel confessed that he does not own a simulator until recently. The good news is that he just bought one, but he still needs to install it and start playing.

He also admitted that several of his peers, Leclerc included, are pressuring him to join Esports. Soon, after some training he will be able to race with his colleagues soon.

“I somehow grew up with video games. More and more friends have now put pressure on me to go racing with them. But I don’t want to embarrass myself, so I still have to train.”

Meanwhile, there is no proper timeline on when the 2020 Formula One season will begin. The sport is hoping to kick things off by July, though it is proving difficult with as many as 9 venues dropping out or postponing events. There is also a slight fear that F1 fans may have to go a full year without racing.
