“I Was Right” – Alain Prost Lashes Out at Alpine for Failing to Accomplish His Final Wish Amidst F1 Exit

Big changes have been happening in the Alpine Racing Formula One team ever since the dawn of the year 2022; Quite recently, Marcin Budkowski announced his withdrawal as the French outfit’s executive director.

And consecutively, rumors have been going around that Otmar Szafnauer, who himself is coming out of a long stint with Racing Point/Aston Martin, could well replace the Polish engineer. Amidst such an active few weeks, here’s another major announcement arriving from Alpine.

Multiple-time world champion, Alain Prost, will no longer portray himself as Alpine Racing’s advisor. The Frenchman joined what was then called Renault in 2017 and spent the subsequent five years with the mid-field team as an advisor, much like Niki Lauda’s role at Mercedes.

The relationship often looked quite commendable between the duo, bolstering the chances of them not splitting up in 2022. However, despite Alpine offering to extend the partnership following the Abu Dhabi GP, Prost revealed that he had denied the proposal citing personal reasons.

Alain Prost lashes out at Alpine

Prost took to Instagram to express his disappointment towards Alpine over the way they handled the announcement. Apparently, Alpine and Prost were supposed to confirm the end of their journey through their respective social media handles simultaneously.

However, the announcement arrived via a third-party media house which left the French world champion red-faced.

He wrote, “I am very disappointed how this new has been annnouced today! It was agreed that we would announce together with @alpinef1team! No respect sorry! I have refused the offer made to me in abudhabi for the 2022 season because of a personal relationship and I was right! To the Enstone and Viry team, I will miss you.

Well, the announcement is here! And it is likely that Alpine will soon release a statement on them parting ways with Prost. But, will anyone replace Prost as the team’s advisor?

Quite unlikely, as Alpine are already in the middle of serious talks over signing ex-Aston Martin boss, Otmar Szafnauer, and ex-Racing Point title partner, BWT.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Prost still does have places to go, with Ferrari and McLaren being two of the preferred destinations. But, the question is, will he move to either of the championship-winning outfits or will he bow out of F1 altogether? Well, only time will tell.
