Ayrton Senna was involved in a high-speed crash in Imola 28 years ago. While medics arrived on the scene, they couldn’t save Senna from his brutal injuries. By the mere age of 34, Ayrton had won more than enough to be called “the best ever”. He was a three-time world champion by then, and beyond doubt could’ve won many more if not for the fatal accident.

In a way to honor his legacy, designer Matteo Macchiavelli and French artist Jisbar will dedicate a new car with a special livery to Senna. The livery will reportedly be a mix of new art and old styles and will involve a charity initiative. Matteo is a famous Italian designer and owner of the Brand Macchia J. Jisbar on the other hand is a French pop-street artist who has critically acclaimed paintings to his name.

They would divide the car into two parts, with the right side comprising three liveries for the teams he drove for: Lotus, Williams and McLaren. While Matteo handles the right side, Jisbar will represent Senna in his own way and will handle the left side.

Imola will host Senna’s art car

The authorities have plans to auction the car at the end of the year. Moreover, aside from Imola, the car will appear in Monaco and Miami. Designer Matteo Macchiavelli was a big fan of Senna and said, “Ayrton Senna’s charisma, his personality, all the challenges he had to face and his humanity inspired me to the point of wanting to create something that could bring out some aspects of his special message: challenge, creativity and humanity.”

Senna’s legacy is one of a kind and this car is a unique representation of the same. Imola is a place of history and is one of the most celebrated tracks in the world. While no one can forget what happened there that day, Senna still remains in everyone’s hearts for his contribution to motorsports.
