The Mclaren man Lando Norris finished the Australian Grand Prix at P5. And in his own words, it was a one-off situation for him. Extremely discouraged in the post-race interview at Melbourne, Lando Norris was not content with his P5 finish. So it is safe to say that Mclaren is struggling in terms of pace, among other things.

However, now with a burst of positivity, he is excited about the coming race. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is bringing back happy memories for Norris.

Lando Norris is reminiscing while looking forward

Lando Norris and Mclaren are not at their brilliant best yet. However, the brit is excited about the next race as the circus returns to Europe and Imola to be specific. Imola always promises a quick and exciting race. Which was exactly the case last time around as well.

Speaking about the upcoming GP, Lando expressed, “I’m excited to be back in Imola! It was a great race for me last year, scoring my first podium of 2021. We’re not back fighting for podiums just yet, but hopefully we can keep moving forward and get the most out of this weekend.”

Last time around, Lando finished the race behind Red Bull’s world champion Max Verstappen and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. This meant a podium finish for Lando, a feat he would want to repeat at the 2022 race as well.

Lando is clearly excited about the coming race. This last-minute addition to the calendar after the coronavirus pandemic allowed the fans to witness a rebranded and reshaped Emilia Romagna GP, which still boasts a rich history.

The Imola track is exciting for all drivers. And Lando is no stranger to the feeling. On top of that, the sprint qualifying makes a debut for the season at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. According to Lando, “The Sprint always adds an extra bit of excitement for the fans.”

However, Mclaren’s speed is an issue for them this season. And even though they have worked on it ahead of Melbourn, there’s still room for improvement.

Norris is positively critical

Lando has his doubts, and his apprehension is not unfounded. There are stats to back up Mclaren’s lack of pace, which is a scary prospect for the team.

As the McLaren camp works to better their MCL36, the sprint qualifying will give them a fair idea of their standing in the grid, literally and figuratively.
