Leclerc, Perez, Sainz & the Rest of F1 Community Mourn the Loss of Jason Dupasquier Following Tragic Mugello Crash

The tragic news of Jason Dupasquier’s passing has rocked the world of Motorsports, including F1. The Swiss Moto 3 rider died from the injuries he suffered from a catastrophic accident with KTM tech3 rider Ayumu Sasaki at Mugello. While the latter walked away relatively unscathed, Dupasquier wasn’t so lucky.
The Swiss rider was treated at the trackside for half an hour before being airlifted to a hospital in Florence. The crash had occurred on Saturday during the qualifying session, which was subsequently red flagged. The update on Saturday about Jason’s condition was grim. On Sunday morning, they delivered the tragic news to the world.
The shocking news hit the world of motorsport hard. Condolences poured in from every side, including from a number of F1 drivers, teams, and related personnel.

This was Dupasquier’s second season racing in Moto 3. He had begun his career in the Swiss Supermoto scene and went on to win the ADAC Moto3 championship in 2016.

His Moto3 debut came with Prustel GP in 2020. However, it was a season to forget for the then 18-year-old. He ended the campaign with zero points.
Nevertheless, his second season had gotten off to a much brighter start. He was sitting in 10th place in the championship table with 27 points, having scored points in all five races of the Moto3 season so far. His best effort came at Jerez where he ended up in P7.

The Swiss rider is the first to lose his life since the fatal crash Moto2 crash of Luis Salom in 2016. As a mark of respect, the MotoGP paddock will observe a minute’s silence at 13:45 on Sunday in Mugello.
