Following the qualifying session of the Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton snatched pole position ahead of Valtteri Bottas. This not only extends Hamilton’s pole position record to 92 but sets a few records for Mercedes themselves.

As it turns out, this will be the 150th front row start for the defending champion. In addition to that, this is also the 200th time that a Mercedes-powered car grabbed pole position in an F1 race weekend.

Without a doubt, Lewis Hamilton is not about to let the COVID-19 pandemic stop him from equalling Michael Schumacher. The German legend is the only obstacle left for Hamilton to add another record to his name.

Without a doubt, Lewis Hamilton will be the favorite to win the race, but he will not have things easy. Teammate Valtteri Bottas is right alongside him, and teammates are often the biggest threats. Meanwhile, the 70th Anniversary race proved that Mercedes is not invincible.

Max Verstappen is definitely going to be breathing down Hamilton’s neck, every step of the way. In addition to that, the Racing Point duo of Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll should not be discounted either. Sunday will be a long race and anything can happen within the span of 66 laps.

It is worth noting that Valtteri Bottas has recently signed a contract extension, and all eyes are on Lewis Hamilton. People will be expecting him to follow suit unless he has a bombshell planned, which is highly unlikely.

Truthfully, the F1 driver market is fickle, and so many names can be thrown in or fished out. While many expect him to stay at Mercedes, could there be a twist in the tale?
