Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, added more accomplishments to his name after he took third place in the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Seven-time World Champion has already broken several records in his 15-year-stay in Formula 1. His longevity is a factor that many F1 drivers dream of, as he still looks strong to win an unprecedented 8th World Championship.

Lewis Hamilton claimed an unlikely podium at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Brit was behind the Ferraris of Leclerc and Sainz. He inherited third place after both Red Bulls in front of him hit trouble in the final few laps. Hamilton’s rival, Max Verstappen, went into the race as a hot favorite, but his steering and fuel issues saw him retire. Mercedes have a fight on their hands and will look to sort out their issues in the coming weeks.

Lewis Hamilton started his Formula 1 career with McLaren in 2007. Ever since his debut, the Briton has had a myriad of race victories and appearances on the podium. After Sunday’s podium, Hamilton has now scored points in 250 races. Former Ferrari driver, Michael Schumacher, who scored points in 221 races, held the previous record.

To assess the magnitude of this achievement, ESPN F1’s Twitter handle came up with an incredible explanation. The tweet mentioned that even if an F1 driver scores points for every single race for the next 10 years, they will still not match Hamilton’s record of scoring in 250 races. Consistency and longevity are certainly two of the important factors that make him one of the sport’s greatest.

Hamilton broke one more record on his way to a 3rd place finish in Bahrain. The Seven-Time World Champion is the only driver to land on a podium for a 16th consecutive season. His journey on the podium started with McLaren on his debut season in Australia. Additionally, he has 103 career wins, which is the highest yet, most points in a season, and several more unequaled feats to his name.
