Lewis Hamilton Explains Reason Behind ‘No War’ F1 Photo Absence

The seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton apologized on his social media because of missing the special group photo alongside the other F1 drivers before the start of the 2022 season.

The 2022 season is just around the block. All the drivers gathered in Bahrain for the final pre-season testing. There, the drivers also took part in a customary group photo before the start of the season.

The group photo was more special this season. Because every F1 team, driver and also FIA showcased their protest against the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Russia. Every driver from all the ten F1 teams was there in the photo except for the seven-time world champion. There were many queries surrounding the absence of Hamilton in the group photo. Fans were eager to know where the Mercedes man was during the photoshoot.

The Brit was sad to be not part of such a special group photo. However, he took to Instagram and apologized to fans to be not being there for the photo because of his delayed flight.

The 37-year-old Mercedes driver is undoubtedly one of the greatest Formula One drivers. He has dominated the sport over the past few seasons; therefore, he was the fan-favourite to win the title last season. However, the title-winning streak of Hamilton ended as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen lifted his maiden world championship.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi GP was the title-deciding clash between the Briton and Verstappen. Hamilton was in the lead for most of the race, but eventually, Max stood victorious. However, many fans and experts believed that Hamilton lost his record eighth title because of Masi’s controversial decision.

After the defeat at Abu Dhabi, Hamilton went off from every social media platform, which gave rise to the rumors surrounding his retirements. But the 37-year-old soon came back online and shut those rumors down with his message stating his will to fight this year.

The Silver Arrow driver recently showcased that he is still one of the best at Barcelona. At the pre-season testing in late February, he topped the sheets with impressive results. Whereas, his new young teammate George Russell finished next to him in the Barcelona testing.
