Max Verstappen is a once-in-a-generation talent. There’s no doubt in the superiority of his caliber to the rest of the field today. At only 24-years of age, he is an F1 world champion.

And if that wasn’t a compliment big enough on its own, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has something even greater for him.

According to the Austrian, Max Verstappen is “without a doubt” the best driver he has ever worked with. In addition to his “incredible will”, Marko points, Verstappen has something that makes him unique.

“What sets him apart the most: He doesn’t need a warm-up [round],” Marko said.

He also described the advantage Verstappen has over others when it rains and the most recent example of his overall talent that was at full display in Jeddah.

“When it rains somewhere, the others drive five or eight laps. Then Max drives out and drives the fastest time on the first lap,” Marko said.

“Or Jeddah: Nobody knew the route. The others drove again too, Max drives out – bang! Three times [fastest sector]. That’s one of its fascinating qualities.” (Translated via Google Translate)

Over the course of the season, while Mercedes was a little slow off the line, they eventually caught up and surpassed Red Bull in terms of pace. So for Verstappen to do what he did, outperforming Mercedes in a Red Bull speaks for itself.
