McLaren had a poor start this season, failing to get a single point at the season opener in Bahrain and then getting 6 points in the Jeddah race. The McLaren duo is having a hard time with the new car, but they are still trying to get the best out of the car, which impresses their team principal.

The F1 fans expected the Papaya team to join the battle in front of the grid this season. However, all those hopes crashed after a poor start in 2022. The team has been struggling with the brakes, resulting in them being one of the slowest teams on the grid.

However, the young McLaren driver Norris bagged a P7 in Jeddah. On the other hand, teammate Honey Badger had to retire from the race. After the race, the young Brit even revealed that the car still has the same issues as it did in Bahrain; and the Jeddah track just suited the car better.

Andreas Seidl on his drivers’ impressive mental strength

McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl is aware of his drivers’ disappointment with the car. Thus, the Woking base is trying its best to eliminate those problems of MCL36. But Seidl is also happy that how his drivers are staying strong despite the poor results.

Seidl reported, “I was really very happy to see, despite the disappointment for Lando and Daniel, and they deserve a better car from us, how they are dealing with the situation.”

Can McLaren make a comeback in 2022?

As things stand, the MCL36 is not producing the performance the team wants. So, they are even having a hard time fighting for the midfield, where they have been dominating for the past few seasons. Meanwhile, their rival Ferrari joined Red Bull for the championship fight at the front of the grid.

However, the English F1 team still has hopes to return to their older form in 2022. Seidl shared, “It is our responsibility now that we lead the team back to where we want to be, back to where we have to be. As I said before, I am confident we will come back.”
