Mick Schumacher is Haas F1’s official driver next season. The team made the announcement on Wednesday. He will be joining Nikita Mazepin, who has also been promoted from Formula 2. However, the German could get his Formula 1 race much before expected.
The 2020 Bahrain GP witnessed a terrifying accident. Romain Grosjean lost control of his Haas and darted into the barriers at 140 mph. The car split into 2 halves as his safety pod burst into flames.
He was surrounded by flames for 30 seconds before he leaped out of them with only minor injuries. Grosjean has been discharged from the hospital.

However, he has not recovered well enough to drive. Meanwhile, Mick Schumacher will have his final Formula 2 race this weekend.
He said, “I think it’s great if you are considered to be ready to do that. I feel like I am. Obviously, you have three FPs, in which you have time to learn.
“Obviously, it would be a challenge, but definitely, I think I would be able get to know the car more to be even better prepared for next year.”
Guenther Steiner wants Romain to drive in Abu Dhabi
Mick Schumacher will be free of Formula 2 commitments by the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He is scheduled for a Free Practice 1 session that weekend. Meanwhile, he has clarified that he is ready to stand in for Grosjean if the team needs him to.
However, nothing has been cemented as of now. Steiner clarified that there have been no talks about this. They have drivers on standby who could fill in for Romain next weekend if needed.
