According to the latest reports, 2 Formula 1 teams are pursuing Sebastian Vettel for 2021. The German’s contract with Ferrari expires at the end of the season and the Scuderia is yet to announce a second driver, for next year. Allegedly, Vettel has offers from 2 teams, should he walk away. However, these reports are rumors and must be treated with the appropriate seriousness.

Crunch time for Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel is one of the key players in the 2021 F1 driver market. As Daniel Ricciardo puts it, choosing the right team is like chess, and Vettel’s next move could decide what the 2021 grid looks like.

Apparently, Ferrari’s proposed contract is a multi-year deal with reduced pay. The German allegedly rejected Ferrari’s first offering, which was a single-season extension. There have been no reports on Vettel’s response to the offer, but Ferrari has allegedly given Seb one month’s time to respond.

Noted Italian journalist Leo Turrini reports that Vettel has just under a month to respond to the Scuderia’s proposal. If Vettel leaves Ferrari, he allegedly has offers from Renault and McLaren.

According to Turrini, Renault and McLaren are seriously considering Vettel’s services for 2021 and beyond. Yes, it seems far-fetched and almost illogical but not improbable. According to many reports, Sainz is likely to replace Vettel. Assuming he actually does, a seat swap with the 4 times World Champion is a strong possibility.

As far as Renault goes, the ideal option would be renewing Ricciardo’s contract. However, it’s no secret that the Australian is growing impatient in search of a World Championship. A Ricciardo-Vettel switch seems very unlikely, but nothing in F1 is set in stone.

The Vettel-Mclaren rumors aren’t anything new, but it only makes sense if Ferrari lures Sainz away from McLaren.

McLaren signing Seb isn’t a bad thing, but the Woking outfit has two highly talented drivers in its ranks. Not to mention they’re young and hungry for wins. With Mercedes’s power on the horizon and a stable driver pairing, the British team would be wise to stick with its current driver lineup.

The same applies to Renault, who are more than keen on keeping Daniel around. But if Ricciardo leaves, the Enstone outfit needs a star driver who’s very experienced. A role that suits the German well.

It’s been 13 years since Ferrari’s last World Championship and after 5 seasons of trying, Vettel has a tough choice in keeping faith or looking elsewhere.
