The start of the 2022 season brought fresh challenges for every team on the paddock with the new regulations. Some teams were excellent from the start, some fared well than others and some improved over time. However, there was the Mercedes team that surprised everyone with their not-so-competitive 2022 challenger.
The consecutive eight-time championship-winning constructors completely lost the plot with the 2022 regulations. As they finished the 2021 season on a powerful yet disappointing note, there was plenty of buzz for round two. However, because of W13’s issues, round two was completely out of the question.

George Russell’s consistent top-five finishes were the saving grace for the Silver Arrows in the initial few races. However, his performances did not hide the massive porpoising issue and the slow pace for the W13.
Lewis Hamilton felt the brunt of the design, with multiple F1 entities suggesting retirement to the 37-year-old. However, the team and the British drivers did not concede defeat. Gradually, Mercedes has turned their luck around and they’re chasing their first win of the season.
However, achieving a win might not be a straightforward task with the superiority of Red Bull’s RB18.
“R.I.P W13”: F1 Fans Mock Mercedes As Defending Champions Declare War on Ferrari For Prized Spot on Constructors’ Board
Not just RB18, the Mercedes W13 might not even compare to the superiority of last year’s W12 as well. Exactly why an old tweet from the Mercedes has become a subject of mockery.
Mercedes’ tweet did not age well as fans mock the team’s failed attempt with W13
The tweet from 10th February featured the W12 with the eighth championship title tag next to the tire. The post captioned, “Your job is done, W12. W13 will take it from here,” definitely did not age well.
Now, the fans are mocking the hilarious aspect of the poor aging and the caption of the tweet.

We’re almost towards the end of the current season and the W13 couldn’t be improved enough to make a comeback. Let’s hope that does not become the case for the next season as well.
