Outspoken Lewis Hamilton Warned of ‘Oscars Speech’ Behavior in F1 as Muzzle Tightens on Drivers: “Better Not to Say Anything”

Since the FIA declared that Formula 1 drivers will now have to ask permission before making “political remarks” during a race weekend, both the media and the fans are annoyed. The new rule has drawn varied reactions, but more or less it has come under intense scrutiny. Now, a Red Bull veteran has come out with a new take as he warns Lewis Hamilton about ‘Oscar Speech’ kind of behavior.
Hamilton has made use of his platform to advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement as well as to create an awareness of the need for greater equality and diversity in the world of motorsport. The other driver that has garnered attention in this regard is Sebastian Vettel, who shared his opinions on a number of environmental concerns. Who can forget his “Miami 2060, First GP Under Water” t-shirt? Vettel has already said goodbye to the sport, leaving behind Hamilton, who has people’s support.
On the other hand, former Red Bull driver David Coulthard has urged Hamilton to go easy with his political speeches at F1 events. As per GPFans, Coulthard said, “It’s a bit like an acceptance speech at the Oscars. If everyone uses the opportunity to make a political statement, there is no issue that is not important to someone.”

“So we either have to mention everything or maybe it’s better not to say anything at all and concentrate on the sport. As an athlete, you are very lucky to be paid to do things that others would do for nothing.”
“We also have to remember that it is the sporting rules that we are talking about, not some set of political regulations.”
Fans have not been very happy about the ban on political speech, and the Mercedes world champion wouldn’t be too pleased as well. However, apart from this, the governing body has stated that it will continue to fight for human rights despite these stringent instructions.

Before imposing these restrictive laws on drivers, the FIA might have given it some thought. Although the public may believe that the governing body’s heart is not in the right place, the FIA’s commitment to continue fighting for human rights appears to have relieved some of the fans of Formula 1.
F1maximaal.nl quoted, “FIA shall promote the protection of human rights and human dignity and shall refrain from discrimination based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, ethnic or social origin, language, religion, philosophical or political opinion.”
