It has been a difficult start to the season for Pierre Gasly and AlphaTauri so far. The French driver has only managed to score 16 points in 11 races while the Italian team has managed only 27 points and sits at P8 in the constructor’s championship.

The Austrian Grand Prix was another tough weekend for them at the last weekend.

The former Red Bull driver has stated that the weekend was a disaster for the team. He also revealed that he had no pace in the car throughout the entire weekend apart from qualifying on Friday.

“Apart from qualifying, but then we were nowhere, in terms of pace. I tried to do everything I can inside the car but at the moment there is just nothing to do, so I think we desperately need this upgrade on the car to be able to get any decent result,” said Gasly.

It is surprising to see the lack of performance within the car as they have a competitive package this season. But the Italian team lacks consistency in their car and has been making a lot of mistakes in the first half of the season, which affected them in the race.

The Italian team has an opportunity to stake their claim with some consistent performances before the mid-season break. Hopefully, they will bring some upgrades to France so that they can fight in the big midfield once again.
