Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo capped his impressive form with a podium finish in the Eifel Grand Prix. The Australian has for long been a fan favorite, and many hoped he would leave Renault on a high with a podium. The man from the land down under did not disappoint.

There was another reason nearly every F1 fan wanted Ricciardo to pop the champagne. That reason was Cyril Abiteboul. More specifically, it had to do with Abiteboul being tattooed.

Prior to the start of the season, Ricciardo had revealed that he had struck a bet with the Renault boss. If he managed to notch a podium in 2020, Abiteboul would have to be inked.

Since last week, the Australian has been busy devising a meticulous plan to get Abiteboul inked. The deal is that Ricciardo gets to pick the kind of tattoo while Cyril gets to decide where he would get inked.

Today, at the drivers’ press conference ahead of Sunday’s race in Portugal, Ricciardo provided fans with an update. He said, “I’ve got an artist working on two (tattoo) designs currently. We’re getting close. “I’ve got to speak to Cyril about logistics. But hopefully before Bahrain, we find a window to get it done. There should be honey badger, let’s see how it works.”

Can Daniel Ricciardo bag another podium before the season wraps up?

The Renault driver currently sits in fourth place on the Drivers’ Championship table. With 78 points to his name, he has already bettered his last season’s tally by 24 points, in just half the amount of races.
