“It’s A Shame” – Sebastian Vettel Disappointed Michael Schumacher Can’t See Mick’s F1 Progression

Michael Schumacher was a true icon and legend of the sport, and played a role in guiding a few people during his time in F1. At the time, a young Sebastian Vettel was also one of them.
Vettel has always admired Schumacher over the years and personally reveres the retired German as one of his idols. But at the same time, he is also sad that Schumacher senior cannot witness his son Mick make his first step into the world of Formula 1.
Nevertheless, Vettel himself hopes to play a bit of a supporting role in Mick Schumacher’s career progression. And in the pre-race press conference, has said that he is open to helping the young Ferrari junior acclimatize to the premier motorsports division.

Sebastian Vettel is happy to tell Mick everything he knows about F1
Vettel is quoted as saying, “Mick is a great guy and obviously I have a very special connection to his father. It’s a shame that Michael is not able to witness Mick’s progression in the last years and his step now into Formula 1.”
Naturally, young drivers would always have a sense of nervousness before entering the biggest stage of their careers. But in Vettel, Mick could find a wholesome mentor capable of teaching and guiding him.

The Ferrari No.5 continued, “From my side I really like him, we get along well and I’m happy to tell him everything that I know. I watched his father winning a lot more races than [Mick] could have watched me win.”

“The way I look at him is I see him as a person where I can help him in his life or on track with some of the things that I went through in my career,be ” concluded Vettel.
Mick Schumacher will join Haas on a multi-year deal from 2021 onwards
The confirmation came midway this week that the young 21-year-old German would join Haas for 2021. Many in the F1 community highly rate ‘Schumi Junior’ and have tipped him to have a highly successful career going forward.

But it will be interesting to see how he goes about his opportunity with Haas next year. And make no mistake, there will certainly be an element of expectations on his shoulders, as he furthers along the Schumacher name.
