Romain Grosjean is currently recovering from his near-fatal crash at Bahrain GP. He burned his hands and is currently undergoing a recovery process. And owing to that, he is not taking part in this weekend’s Sakhir GP.

The Frenchman is trying his best to be fit and available for the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP. Not just the season finale, it is possibly his last chance to drive an F1 car too, since he is without a drive for the next season and no other team is looking to offer him one either. However, if he is not able to partake in Abu Dhabi, he will try to go a different route –

“The story would be beautiful to go to Abu Dhabi.

“If I don’t, I’ll call every single Formula 1 team and see if anyone would offer me a private test in January or so to jump back in the car and have 10, 15 laps for myself.”

Mercedes ready to help Romain Grosjean

The 10-time Podium winner has previously driven for the now-defunct Lotus and its parent Renault. Hence, either his current team or the French Manufacturers should step in to give him a farewell drive.

However, if they fail to do so, The Silver Arrows won’t mind fulfilling Romain’s wish of driving an F1 car again. Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff said –

He deserves a proper sendoff, but cash-Strapped Haas is unlikely to give him a private test run, given their miserly situation. So, what better way to do it than drive the fastest car of the turbo-hybrid era?
