The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will make its debut on the F1 calendar in just over six weeks from today. While preparations at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit continue to progress rapidly, its organisers look to implement a dress code for everyone involved in the event.

According to sources, this dress code involves a different set of permissible outfits for men and women.

Organisers of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will introduce a dress code

Over the years, many knew Saudi Arabia as a country which strictly implements a variety of rules. Although F1 races often have a smart casual dress code, the Middle Eastern country will make a few additions of its own extending to team members and journalists.

The dress code prohibits men from wearing tank tops, shorts and ripped jeans or trousers in the paddock or anywhere in the city. While it goes without saying, it also prohibits them from not wearing any piece of clothing on top.

As for women, the dress code prohibits them from wearing ripped pants or shorts, just like men. In addition, it also prohibits them from wearing skirts, sleeveless dresses, short dresses and bikinis. However, the dress code does not make the traditional niqab, which is a face veil, compulsory for women to wear.

To sum up the dress code, it doesn’t allow anyone to wear clothes which expose any part of the body apart from the face, neck and hands. Hence, the permissible outfits include Saudi Arabia’s traditional coats, long-sleeved shirts and dresses which cover the knees. As for the bottom, any proper full-length trouser will comply with the code.

The race falls between two Middle East race weekends

Earlier this year, F1 announced Qatar will host a race on November 21 this year. Following this race will be the first ever race in Saudi Arabia before the season ends in Abu Dhabi.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit looks most likely to write another chapter in the intense title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. And with the track set to be the fastest street circuit, expect fireworks in Jeddah on December 5.
