Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel part ways

After 6 memorable seasons in red, Vettel’s boyhood dream of driving for Ferrari finally concludes. The German couldn’t bring home Championship glory back to Maranello but he can certainly hold his head high. Earlier, several publications reported that Ferrari had offered Vettel a single year deal with reduced pay. Noted German publication Motorsport-Total reported the news of the split. That begs the question, what’s next for Ferrari and Vettel?

What Next?

According to several rumors, McLaren and Renault have offered the German contracts. There have been several rumors of a McLaren-Vettel partnership ever since the winter break. Therefore, it wouldn’t be too ridiculous to see the 4 times World Champion sign with the Woking outfit.

However, one cannot rule out the possibility of Seb choosing to walk away from the sport. At 33 years of age, Vettel may prioritize family duties above everything else.

Renault is possibly seeking Vettel’s services in the event that Ricciardo chooses to leave after 2020. Like the majority of the grid, the Aussie’s contract expires at the end of next season. According to several reports, Ferrari is considering Ricciardo, Sainz, and Giovinazzi as potential replacements.

Signing Ricciardo would be a valuable acquisition for Ferrari, given his experience and talent. Oh and not mention his Italian heritage.

On the other hand, Sainz would be the optimal choice to partner with Charles Leclerc. The Spaniard has the right amount of youth and experience and can handle the pressure of driving for Ferrari.

While Ricciardo is undoubtedly the more valuable catch, he does come at a price. Additionally, a Leclerc-Ricciardo pairing may give rise to friction within the team, which Is the last thing Ferrari needs at the moment.

It’ll be interesting to see what Ferrari and Vettel announce in the coming days.
