It is not a hidden mystery that Sebastian Vettel endured a horrid final season with Ferrari. A culmination of problems resulted in his downfall and thus, he spent his time scraping away to attain points finishes with sub-par machinery.

Aston Martin F1 team owner Lawrence Stroll touched upon Vettel’s recent struggles. He believes in the German’s ability as a four-time F1 champion, which could lead to a possible rejuvenation at his new team.

Stroll stated, “Sebastian had a very challenging year last year. All of us would find it challenging that you lose your job before the season starts. That’s mentally very difficult, and you know how mental a game F1 is for drivers.”

“He had a car he found tricky to drive that didn’t suit his driving style. We’ve seen that before in his last year at Red Bull [in 2014].”

That said, Vettel still managed a podium finish in the Turkish GP last year and reminded his critics what he was still capable of. At Aston Martin with a renewed car, it can possibly revitalize Vettel to perform even better, competing at the front of the grid.

Stroll continued, “But he’s a four-time world champion. I don’t think he forgot how to drive in one year. He has a work ethic that is known as second to none in the paddock in terms of how hard he works.

“One of the ways we are going to be world champions is to get my guys to think and act like world champions. And how you do that is bring a four-time world champion into the team,” concluded the Aston Martin team owner.

Vettel will look to hit the ground running with Aston Martin at the earliest

The 33-year-old has a few good years left in him in the top division. After turbulent times at Ferrari, the move to Aston Martin, which had one of the best cars on the grid last year, will personally give him motivation.

Subsequently, the team will also try to help Vettel get back to his natural best by providing him the best car possible. Together, then, they will share similar and realistic objectives of fighting for P3 in the Constructors’ title fight and securing as many podiums as possible.
