Sir Lewis Hamilton Names His Favorite Royal – And It’s Not the Obvious Answer

Being one of the most prominent personalities of the United Kingdom, Lewis Hamilton has often been in the presence of the royal family. We have even heard stories from him of the time he was taught dining etiquette by none other than the Queen. Recently, the knight was again spotted talking about the royal family after being asked a complex question in an interview.

In his recent interview with Channel 4 ahead of the British Grand Prix, Hamilton was asked who was his favorite member of the royal family. This was a really tricky question, but the 7-time world champion had no problems answering it.

“Who’s your favorite royal? Mine’s Kate. She seems very classy,” said Steve Jones, Channel 4 presenter. “Diana has always been my favorite royal,” said Hamilton.

Jones went on to tell Hamilton a joke about Diana, at which the Mercedes driver simply smiled. “My wife, who’s American, thought the Princess of Wales was the sea mammal,” said Jones.

Given the choice to name any modern royal, Hamilton gave two names: “I wouldn’t say today I have [a favorite]. I think Kate’s pretty awesome and I like Meghan,” said the Mercedes driver.

The British driver revealed it delighted him as the royal family welcomed a person of color into their family. He mentioned he was happy to see the family become more diverse over the years.

“It was great to see such a positive change, and it was great to see how happy they both were. It was just a really proud day for the world and it’s always great to see positivity and change. The fact you do have diversity in the Royal Family today is a huge thing. People probably don’t realize how important that is,” said Hamilton.
