The 2021 season was one of the best-ever seasons in the history of Formula 1. The sport not only saw a sharp rise in its global fan base but also saw the titanic battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. As the world got divided into two halves before the ultimate race, Kai Havertz made sure he goes the Dutch way. Fans reacted to the German international’s pick.

The German international soccer player, who plays for the English Premier League club Chelsea, voiced his support for Verstappen. On his official Twitter handle, the German shared, “It’s time.. Max or Lewis? I’m going for @Max33Verstappen @F1 #AbuDhabiGP”. Since he was supporting the Red Bull driver, he did not have to suffer heartbreak in the end.

Despite the post being almost a year old, the fans started reacting to the post after Germany’s recent match in the FIFA world cup in Qatar. In the match, where Kai Havertz’s team lost by a 1-2 margin to Japan, fans started calling out the driver on his choice.

As the Chelsea player picked his side for the last race, fans couldn’t wait but share their reactions online. The fans took to their social media to troll the soccer player’s choice. Havertz’s choice came to light after the German forward failed to score, assist or put any shots on target during their inaugural match in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi race has gone down as one of the most exciting, controversial, anticipated, and heartbreaking races in history. There was elation on one side, and despair on the other. Hamilton suffered mighty misery, whereas Verstappen became the F1 champion for the first time.

However, that didn’t stop the fans to target the German soccer player over his choice as there were several comments targeting Kai Havertz!

As the commentator in the very last lap of the last race went, “Mercedes not happy, Red Bull will be delighted. They’ve shared a brilliant championship battle but the championship can only be won by one and it’s going Dutch in 2021,” One can understand what it meant to the fans, and, of course, to Kai Havertz.

Even though he made a winning choice back then, fans are surely not happy with how he performed in the opening match.
