Scuderia Ferrari’s weekend was already difficult with both drivers starting out near the midfield. At the start, he rocketed up the order to slot in behind teammate Sebastian Vettel. Then, Leclerc appeared to misjudge his braking and tried to dive-bomb his partner.
Unfortunately, Leclerc got on the kerb and side-swiped Vettel. The impact broke the German’s rear wing, and Leclerc also sustained some damage.
Sadly for Sebastian Vettel, it was race over because they could not fix the wing. Meanwhile, Leclerc had to soldier on with an ailing SF1000 before eventually retiring.

What did Sebastian Vettel say about the incident?
According to the German to Sky F1, he was taken completely by surprise when Leclerc kamikaze-attacked him. This was because Vettel was already preoccupied with a few other cars in front of him.
Therefore, he was scarcely expecting an attack from behind, let alone his own teammate.

He noted that he was three-wide while into turn three when Charles Leclerc pulled off the unexpected move. This went on and bit Leclerc hard because there wasn’t any space to overtake.

Suffice to say, Kimi Raikkonen got the best view in the house as he saw an out-of-control Charles Leclerc careen into the back of Sebastian Vettel.
This will deal a massive blow to Sebastian Vettel as he fights to secure a seat for the 2021 F1 season. The German driver fell out of favor with Ferrari and will see Carlos Sainz take his seat alongside Charles Leclerc in the upcoming season.
Several other seats are also disappearing quickly, far too quickly for Vettel’s liking and he is determined to leave Ferrari on a high note.

Sadly, incidents like this will likely stain his resume and and hinder his chances of bagging a ride ahead of the next season.
