British Formula 1 franchise, Williams, has been sold to New York-based investment firm Dorilton Capitals. Following the acquisition, the Williams family is all set to resign after the Italian Grand Prix. However, according to experts, the resignation came in a bit too late. Ralf Schumacher voices his opinion on this issue.

Williams was a brute force in the ’90s. With the dawn of the new millennium, the lethality was lost. William dropped from being a title contender to a mid-table racer.

“I think the decision came way too late. Of course, you had great times, but you also had very difficult times”, the German stated.

The best way to be consistent is to accept, adapt, and accelerate. Adapting to the changing times and needs of the company must be catered for consistent success. However, Williams failed to open up new opportunities, therefore, limiting their progress.

“The team itself, you can still tell today, is very self-contained. You are of course still proud of what has been achieved. But this apparatus has not moved, and you have missed to modernize, to bring in young people, to have a fresh image.”

The takeover is set to take place mid-season after the Monza race. Quite unusual for a massive change, however considering the kind of racing season we are having Dorilton will be having time to settle down and start a new chapter next season onwards.

“I think the timing is not bad at all. Williams has not much to lose, and it’s a crazy season anyway. The person who takes over now has to get used to it and has to find out who we like and what we have to change.”

New financial firepower likely to boost Williams title race

In 1997, Williams won their last World Championships. More than two decades later, Williams is looking forward to a new beginning. Hopefully, after a few seasons, they’ll be back in the Championship race.

With the resignation of Sir Frank Williams and Claire Williams, the acquisition would be complete. The new financial boost certainly would be beneficial for the team in the longer run.
