Lewis Hamilton has endured a disappointing start to the season. The Brit currently sits 6th in the standings and is already 64 points behind leader Max Verstappen. As a result, his hopes of an unprecedented 8th title are slipping away.
However, his performance in Spain combined with improvements in the car showed that he’s still as motivated as ever. After an early crash with Kevin Magnussen, the seven-time world champion came back from 19th to finish 5th.

Moreover, the car showed incredible pace, matching the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari during the race. Although the title is far from the reach of Hamilton and Mercedes, the Briton is not ready to give up his 8th world championship.
Lewis Hamilton shows his confidence in Mercedes
Mercedes’ issues started from the Bahrain GP. The W13 suffered porpoising and they could not match the pace of trendsetters Red Bull and Ferrari. However, Hamilton is optimistic that the team can come back from a difficult start.
He said, “I’ve been with these guys for ten years. I know how they work and the kind of culture: no processes, we win and lose together. They are very motivated, they give their soul to bring us back to the top.”

‘Obsessed’ FIA President Ben Sulayem Continues to Target Lewis Hamilton Amidst Recent Jewelry Row
Many believe that Hamilton will not achieve his 8th title this year. Nonetheless, the 37-year-old is confident in his ability and does not plan to give up.
“Of course I believe it. It’s not just a matter of records, of sports titles. I want to win to carry on all the work behind the scenes in favor of equality,” he added.
Hamilton heaps praise on Stefano Domenicali
While the results have not gone in his favor on the track, Hamilton has been battling hard off the track as well. The seven-time world champion is strongly against the FIA’s jewelry ban and his protests in Miami grabbed the headlines.

Despite his act, Hamilton heaped praise on F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and cited the sport is in safe hands with the Italian in charge.
“F1 is no longer what it was before: they used to set up garages, we raced and then we went home. Now it is a source of inspiration, it helps to form opinions. And he is in good hands thanks to a great Italian.”

“Yes, Stefano is the engine of change. We need open people like him, he understands everything and everyone,” the Billion dollar man stated.
Hamilton is known to be the drive for change in Formula 1. He has created awareness on several issues and will continue to do. Alongside this, he will hope to improve his on-the-track results as the season progresses.
