Lewis Hamilton faces catastrophe at the Belgium GP as he finds himself out of the W13 on the opening lap of the race. So far in the season, the Brit was the only driver to cross the chequered flag at each venue raced this season. However, the streak of 13 races comes to a sorrowful end.

After a disappointing qualifying session yesterday, the Mercedes ace was eyeing to make amends on the race day. Given that he started on the second row, and the strength of the W13 is its race pace, he was in a favorable position for a sixth consecutive podium finish in a row.

As the 5-lights went out at Spa-Francorchamps, the seven-time world champion found himself wheel to wheel with the two-time world champion. The rivalry ignited between the former McLaren duo, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, which concluded in car number 14 rear-ending car number 44.

Following the collision, the Mercedes star tried to continue on with his Grand Prix, but a call from his race engineer asking him to “Stop, stop” on track, saw him end the race in a DNF. Nevertheless, the Alpine walked out of the crash with significantly less damage, and Alonso came over the radio to put Hamilton under fire.

“Yeah, What an idiot! Closing the door from the outside. I mean, we had a mega start but this guy only knows how to drive and start in first,” Alonso exclaimed.

In the aftermath of the incident, the stewards decided ‘No investigation is necessary’, as neither pilot received any penalty for coming together.

Ahead of the Belgium GP, Hamilton returned to the paddock with a bounce in his step as he was all set for the second half of the season to unfold. Notably, he claimed to cause havoc in the races remaining this season. Unfortunately, the only havoc he has created is on the F1 Twitter.

Hamilton put in the work overnight and was reported to stay at the track till midnight to find solutions to the struggles of the W13. Unfortunately, he never got to execute the strategies of the Brackley outfit on race day.
