Lando Norris “Sees No Reason Why” Lewis Hamilton Shouldn’t Be Knighted

The incredible Lewis Hamilton continues to break record upon the record and has his sights set on a record-equaling seventh world championship title. For a man with the kind of success that Hamilton has had (and will continue to), it’s often puzzling as to why he hasn’t been knighted yet.
Being pretty much the greatest racer of all time in F1 and proudly carrying the British flag on his shoulders, he should have received knighthood a long time ago. Many F1 drivers in recent times have answered the question and they are all unanimous in saying Hamilton deserves to be called ‘sir.’

The latest to chime in on the topic of Hamilton and knighthood is McLaren driver Lando Norris. The 20-year-old’s views aren’t too different from what others have said.
Speaking at the drivers’ press conference ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, Norris said, “Only one person in the whole world has achieved what he has done, that is Michael Schumacher.
“He has led both on and off the track. And other athletes who have done such things in sport have been honored. So I see no reason why he shouldn’t.”
Perhaps knighthood may not be too far away. After the kind of season Hamilton has had, knighting him once he has sealed a 7th championship would be an opportune moment.

For Hamilton, a second-place finish is all that he requires going into this Sunday’s race. If he were to bag P2, then irrespective of where his teammate and title rival Valtteri Bottas finishes, Hamilton would win the title.
Meanwhile, for Norris, the case is different. A title is a foregone conclusion, but he is the heat of the mid-field battle. Currently in seventh place on the Drivers’ championship table with 69 points, Norris would ideally want a top-six finish to retain any hopes of ending the season as the best of the rest.
