Sergio Perez Consoles an Upset Racing Point F1 Mechanic on Instagram Over His Exit

Earlier today, Sergio Perez took to social media to announce that he won’t be a part of Racing Point F1 from next year. Checo also mentioned that he doesn’t have a Plan B yet, but still showed his intent to stay in F1.

Perez is part of the reason why Lawrence Stroll managed to take over a financially struggling Force India in 2018. Considering his healthy relationship with the team, his decision did baffle quite a lot of people in the paddock.

But more than that, it upset the Mechanics and his crew who worked with him during his tenure with the team. In particular, Perez’s No.1 Mechanic expressed his sadness in the Instagram post.

I’m gutted mate, you know this, our whole crew is,” read Mikey Brown’s comment, the lead mechanic for Perez at Racing Point. But Perez gave a refreshing and positive response to his comment, don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened. #friends4life“.

 Could Sergio Perez bag a drive for next season?

His decision has definitely opened the driver’s market wide open. With the teams like Alpha Tauri, Alfa Romeo, and Haas yet to reveal their line-ups, they are likely to show interest in inducting Perez into their ranks.

And as for Racing Point, the driver to line-up alongside Lance Stroll remains to be a question. But current Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is looking like the lead contender for that spot.

The Vettel-Aston Martin speculations which were slowly fading away are now back. It may only be a matter of time before the team officially announces who they will be signing for their 2021 season. Fingers crossed!
