Mercedes F1 is well known for having the best social media admins in the F1 circle. The German team’s excellence clearly stretches beyond the track as well, no doubt. However, from among the team’s driver duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, the latter doesn’t come across as someone who has banter up his sleeve. But it looks as though the Finn wants people’s perceptions about him to change.

A few days ago, the Brackley-based outfit posted a hilarious tweet on social media. The tweet had a list of words the account has muted, all pertaining to some bad goof-ups the team has been part of in recent times.

But Bottas decided to up the funny factor by trolling himself. His reaction to the tweet read, “Do you wanna see my list,” followed by a sarcastic smiley emoji.

The Finn’s list would include certain elements from Mercedes’ own list such as the ‘Valtteri, it’s James’ statement. But perhaps his list of muted words would also involve races like the Turkish Grand Prix 2020 where Valtteri had a torrid time on the slippery wet surface, spinning multiple times and crossing the finish line in 14th place.

He also alluded to his list being a very long one when he reacted to one particular comment.

The Finn just can’t seem to match Hamilton and take the battle to him on a regular basis. Many have called for him to be dropped in favor of the younger and seemingly more talented George Russell.

2021 appears to be Bottas’ last chance to prove to the team and its fans that he can fight for the title and deserves to remain in the seat. He has given fans a few false dawns in the past. But it’s about time for him to do what Nico Rosberg did in 2016, else his time at the top end of the grid may be over.
