During the British Grand Prix, Kimi Raikkonen cut a fuming figure and blew up in his team’s faces. Sometime during the race, the Alfa Romeo team called him in for a routine pit stop.

Suddenly, just as he was diving in, a frantic call came in to stay out, but it was too late because he already crossed the pit entry.

The annoyed Finn simply screamed back, “It’s too f***ing late now! F***’s sake”. So the team had to service his car and send him on his way at last. In all honesty, things at Alfa Romeo are not so rosy and the team are nearly backmarkers.

More drama for Kimi Raikkonen later in the race

Unfortunately, rotten luck was not done messing with Raikkonen, because he became one of the select few plagued with tire trouble.

Aside from a fairly dull middle stint, the action really picked up towards the end. Nobody could predict how quickly the tires delaminated and the likes of Kimi Raikkonen, Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton paid the price.

In the end, Raikkonen finished the race in 17th and last place, while teammate Antonio Giovinazzi finished 14th. Truthfully, the 2007 World Champion is quite possibly waiting for the 2020 season to end after such a horrendous start.

So far this season, the 40-year-old has not finished higher than 14th place, while Giovinazzi has managed to scrounge two points in the opening race in Austria.

It doesn’t help Raikkonen’s case that he has been struggling for pace throughout the season. Now, all he can do is put this disappointing result behind him and focus on next week’s race.
