Red Bull fans will now see a brand new driver behind the wheel of one of their cars this season. Having signed a deal to join the 2020 Constructors’ runners-up, Sergio Perez recently visited the team’s technology campus in Milton Keynes.

Combining all the highlights, Red Bull Racing posted a video showcasing Perez’s trip around the factory base. Over the two days, he was introduced to quite a few people while also gaining an understanding of the different functional departments.

Aside from media and marketing commitments, the seat fit process proved to be an important aspect. But more importantly, it impressed Perez to see how the Austrian-licensed outfit had everything in-house in terms of their support systems.

Sergio Perez briefly met Christian Horner and Adrian Newey during his factory tour

The Mexican driver has previously worked with the Red Bull team principal during his junior racing days, and so, it was a reunion of sorts. In addition, Perez also met with the team’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, who has been immensely instrumental to the basis of so many cars over the years.

The seat fitting and familiarization with the simulator were the other interesting elements from Perez’s tour. With a team dedicated to customizing the foam layout, the 30-year-old spent some time offering his adjustments. In short, the objective was to eventually have the best possible and comfortable seat for his RB16B.

A few weeks back, ‘Checo’ had also talked to the team’s podcast ‘Talking Bull,’ answering a few questions from fans in the process. From the looks of it, he is slowly acclimatizing to life at Red Bull Racing.

For starters, the team will expect a much more competitive challenge to their star driver, Max Verstappen. Over two years, Red Bull have tried out both Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, but to no avail.

With Perez, they will have a reliable challenger for the P4 position, at the very least. Bringing in his own set of successes, he would essentially also be the perfect foil to deter Mercedes’ strategy.
