Who can forget the 2016 season when Lewis Hamilton lost to his teammate? The Silver War was undoubtedly the most famous F1 rivalry in motorsport history. The fight for the championship between the Mercedes duo was so intense that it led to a major crash. It seems that the 2016 champion, Nico Rosberg, is still recovering from the extreme season.

Nico Rosberg still had bad memories of the Turn 3 incident of the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya. The 2016 world champion had a terrible crash with his then-teammate and championship rival Hamilton, leading both the drivers to leave the circuit.

Rosberg retired from F1 after lifting his maiden championship title in 2016. Now the former F1 driver has a YouTube channel where he talks about F1 and gives tutorials about how to take on different tracks in the F1 Video Game. Rosberg has a video on how to master the Barcelona circuit, and like other track tutorial videos, Nico explained every part of the Spanish track.

However, for Catalunya, Nico decided to skip the Turn 3 as he had a terrible crash with Hamilton there in 2016. In the video, the former Mercedes driver said about Turn 3, “This corner actually I don’t know much about. I’m not very good at this quarter. Let’s skip this one. Let’s go to the next one.” After skipping Turn 3, Nico said, “Okay, I’m feeling much better now again.”

Nico Rosberg blames Lewis Hamilton while praising George Russell

The Silver Arrows are having a poor 2022 season. So far, the reigning champion constructor has only bagged two podiums, where Red Bull’s reliability issues also came into play. Further, the Mercedes newcomer George Russell has been outperforming Hamilton in almost every race despite having the same car.

Moreover, the Imola race was arguably the worst race for the seven-time world champion so far. Lewis finished P13 while Russell finished P4. Later, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff later apologized to Hamilton for the poor car.

In light of all this, former Mercedes driver Rosberg believes that Hamilton had a huge role in the unsatisfactory race result. He said, “Let’s not forget Russell is in P4 with that same car, so Lewis definitely had a big role to play in that poor result this weekend. Russell still managed to get P4 out of it with a brilliant weekend, so there was more in that car.”
