After a brief hiccup last week, normal service resumed as Lewis Hamilton romped to a 1-2 Mercedes victory in Austria. On the podium, Hamilton went a little berserk and chased team principal Toto Wolff with the full intention of spraying champagne. Of course, Wolff himself had every intention of staying high and dry, so he ran for his life.
It was a hilarious scene, as several Mercedes mechanics also scattered and tried to run from Hamilton. Unfortunately, a few of them got sprayed, and even Valtteri Bottas tried to get in on the act. To be perfectly honest, the team has every reason to be ecstatic because very few teams have been as dominant.
This race victory marks the 14th season in a row that Lewis Hamilton has recorded a win. After everything that could go wrong, went wrong last week, Hamilton was out for redemption. Suffice to say, he did just that with a near 10-second victory over teammate Bottas.

Lewis Hamilton stamped his authority in Austria
In addition to that, Hamilton has now moved to within 6 wins of Michael Schumacher’s tally of 91 wins. Hamilton’s road to redemption began in qualifying where he braved the treacherous conditions to bag an emphatic pole position. 24 hours later, staring at a dry track, nothing was going to stop Lewis Hamilton from trying to open his win account.

Hamilton currently trails Valtteri Bottas in the championship by a mere six points. The Finn himself is taking the fight to his partner especially after he converted fourth on the grid into second place. To do so, he overtook Lando Norris early on and set about chasing after Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. At long last, he managed to catch up to and pass the Dutch driver and complete the Mercedes 1-2.
