WATCH: Sebastian Vettel “Thanks” Red Bull for Losing Out to Lewis Hamilton

The 2010 season of Formula 1 saw quite a few incidents across the track. The most notable incident took place during the Spanish Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel swooping in on Lewis Hamilton for the third place.
Vettel stormed in as Hamilton was coming out of the pit lane. Red Bull was leading with Mark Webber comfortably at the pole. Vettel was chasing the second spot when he went off track. Radio communication picked Vettel sarcastically thanking’ his crew members.
“Thanks, Mate“, Sebastian was heard on the radio clippings.

The voice dripped frustration as Vettel saw Hamilton regaining the second spot. His crew members asked him to focus ahead as the race held ample opportunities to take back the second spot.
Further up the track, Vettel was struggling with his brake and consequently found himself on the gravel. Angry and frustrated, Vettel had to visit the pits yet again to let his crew take a look at the brakes.
Losing considerable time, he came out with the warning to continue with care.

Vettel rejoined behind Fernando Alonso and was 4th in the standings. Lewis was placed second and looked comfortable with 3 laps to go. However, the podium finish was not on the cards for him as he soon found out with a crash.

His front left tire hit some debris and sent him flying to the gravel before crashing in the tire barriers. His run was cut short and Alonso moved into second place. Vettel struggling with his brakes was able to manage a third-placed finish.

Vettel went on to win his maiden Championship title later that year, the first of his four consecutive titles. Hamilton was unlucky in Spain and subsequently ended the year in the fourth position, two points short of the third and sixteen points behind the leader.
A decade has passed since that incident in Barcelona. Hamilton is the reigning champion and looks comfortable in the lead to notch another win to his name. He is on the verge of equalling Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 World Championship titles.

Vettel, on the other hand, is struggling in the Maranello-based outfit. A rancid relationship with the Italian team and the uncertainty as far as his future is concerned, are not helping matters.
He is set to leave Ferrari after the current season. However, there haven’t been any updates regarding his future in the F1 paddock.
