Monaco GP weekend is always one of the highlights of an F1 calendar. The weekend attracts unparalleled attention from all quarters of the world who flock to the principality to watch the race live. But this Monaco weekend might be a bit more special, as there are rumors it may be the last time the sport visits the iconic track for a while.

If that is the case, we have a stellar starting grid to look forward to on Sunday. The qualifying session on Saturday in Monaco is arguably the most important in the entire season and yesterday was no different.

Starting Grid for the F1 Monaco GP on Sunday

On Saturday, Ferrari driver and hometown hero Charles Leclerc took his 5th pole position for this season and his second consecutive P1 start in Monaco. The Monegasque looked confident, driving in the streets of Monte Carlo, where he grew up. His teammate and the Red Bull pair of Sergio Perez and world champion Max Verstappen closely followed him.

But there might be some penalties in waiting for Sainz and Perez for their crash in Q3. There is a possible chance of penalties and rain to spice things up and make it an engaging race on Sunday.

But that possibility does not bother pole sitter Charles Leclerc one bit who is pumped up to take home his first win in the principality.

The Ferrari driver has not finished a single race in Monaco in his racing career. It is a stat that has haunted him from the beginning and the one he would like to dispose of on Sunday. So he was undeterred when asked if the possibility of rain bothers his approach to the race.

“There’s a bit of a chance of rain too, but that’s fine. We were strong also in the rain in Imola, so whatever comes, we will try to make the best out of it,” said Charles.

If this indeed is the last time F1 visits Monaco, then a victory of the home-grown hero might be the right sent off for the venue. But a lot can happen over the course of 78 laps that might surprise everyone.
