F1 has never failed to entertain its audience. While there are ten teams that contend in the races, there are few who dominate the series.

Though Ferrari boasts the highest number of titles, the Mercedes team has been dominating the track currently. They won the Championship title seven consecutive times, from 2014 to 2020. Having both high speed and skilled drivers in the team has benefitted the team to a great extent.

The striking performance of the team in the grid is for several reasons. Apart from signing the skillful racers like Schumacher, Hamilton, Bottas, and Nico Rosberg, there are many more significant reasons to hang on.

There are many more significant reasons to hang on. A more significant factor is the fall of Ferrari and Red Bull. Apparently, these two dominating teams have lost the competitive edge.

Subsequently, the power growth of the Ferrari engine, driven by fuel flow factors, came to a halt when regulations prevented them to do so. Further, things look very hard for Ferrari drivers. As the cars have performed reasonably around the corners but have failed to deliver in the straights.

Aerodynamic incompatibility is a trademark problem of Red Bull. The drivers have complained about the lack of control and maneuverability for ages. Further, it is no exception this year as well.

Their relentless effort to make a smoother, slow corner response has left the car aerodynamically unstable in the straights.

In an aerodynamicist’s word, the vortices created at the front of the vehicle are quite unstable because of the endplate and under-nose vane restrictions.

Also, running a high rake makes it go up faster as you slow down, rendering the airflow completely volatile. It is hard to predict how it will challenge other low tier teams, let alone Mercedes.
